The trip to Gibraltar

As my fellow students talk about what we actually did there I will concentrate on the car we rent. There is much to say about that, indeed.

On Monday, the 9th of May 2011, I looked for a car with seven seats for the trip to Gibraltar we had planned for the following weekend on the internet. Firstly, I found an Opel Zafira and I tried to rent it but the next day I got the answer, that I am too young (23) for a 7-seater. After that, I looked on an other website to rent a Ford Galaxy. This time, I was accepted to rent this car from Friday to Monday afternoon. On Friday afternoon, after work, I went to the car rental agency at the airport by bus. They asked me if I wanted the Ford Galaxy or a Mercedes Viano, by the way for the same price. I took the Mercedes. In the afternoon I went to the beach with three other guys.

Early in the next morning we (Stefan, Mert, Mike, Fabian, Marcel, Roman and me) went to Gibraltar. We had a lot of fun, especially with the monkeys. After that trip we went on to Tarifa to look for the, as it turned out, very nice beach and we swam in the ocean.

In the evening we went back to Málaga and we got there within two hours. It took me two and a half hours to find a place to park. The city was full of people and cars so I could not get a parking slot for the big car. When I found a small one, three guys of us went out of the car and tried to instruct me. Backing in the car slot, I suddenly heard Mert yelling and knocking on the window because his shin was jammed between the Mercedes and the obviously new BMW behind me. The result: Mert got hurt but the BMW was not harmed. After this I parked in front of a front door on the sidewalk.

Next day I went to an Aqua Park in Mijas, near to Málaga, with three other guys. We had a lot of fun there as well and will not ever forget that day. We went home in the evening and I took the first park slot I could get. It took us 15 minutes to get home.

On Monday morning I got shocked. I had got a ticket of 200€ because I had parked the car in a parking area of an agency. At night nobody had seen the sign for this area. In the afternoon I returned the car to the car-rental-station and the next day, on Tuesday, I went to the bank Unicaja to pay the ticket. If you pay those tickets in 14 days, you get a discount of 50%, so we paid only 100€.

All in all, everybody of us paid 47€ (including the ticket) for the car. It was a very nice trip but also very annoying that one of us got hurt (he feels very well now) and that we had to pay 100€ for the ticket.
