My experiences in Malaga

Hi @ all!

My name is Juergen (23) and I’m working for the company APPinformàtica. With my Colleagues from Cologne we are doing a practical training in Malaga, Spain. But first of all I want to tell you about the Spanish culture, I like it! The people are friendly and helpful, they form a queue for going inside the bus, for example.

In Germany I work as an IT-Specialist, so I was looking for a company which does the same things. APPinformàtica have more than 500 IT-shops in Spain. In my company we check and repair PCs and laptops for customers, focusing on troubleshooting hardware and software errors. If hardware components are damaged, we search for required components and order them. We live in the central city of Malaga and my company is only a few bus stops away. Here in Malaga it’s nice to go out for a drink or a dinner. By the way you learn a lot of things about the Spanish mentality.

I would definitely advise an internship abroad! You’ll get a lot of unforgettable impressions!

Hola,

my name is Vanessa and i´m working for IES Campanillas. I want to tell you about our first week in Malaga. We arrived at 01. may. The 01. may is an official holiday in Malaga, but it was a sunday, so that the 2. may was free here.
First we went to our accommodation, it´s a traditional spanish house and the rooms are traditional spanish, too.
On Monday we went with our teachers through Malaga and they show us somes places, the fast way to the beach and where we can go to eat. In the evening we went to a nice tapas bar, it´s called pepa y pepe. In spain, the people order a lot of tapas and all eat from the others. So that it is very mixed.

Now I told you something about Malaga:

Malaga is a city and a municipality in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, Spain. It is the second most populous city of Andalusia and the sixth largest in Spain. It lies on the Costa del Sol.
Málaga enjoys a subtropical climate.
History:
Málaga's history spans about 2,700 years and is one of the oldest cities in the world. It was founded by the Phoenicians as Malaka about 770 BC, from the 6th century BC in Ancient Carthage, from 218 BC - Roman Republic and later Roman Empire (as latin Malaca), after the fall of the empire of the 800 years under the domination of Arabs, from 1487 under the dominion of the Spaniards. The archaeological remains and monuments from the Phoenician, Roman, Arabian and Christian eras convert the historic center into an "Open Museum" displaying its rich history of more than 3,000 years.

This important cultural infrastructure have culminated in the nomination of Málaga as a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture. If you want more information for the 2016 European Capital of Culture, then go to this Webpage:

Pablo Picasso's Museum in Málaga

Last week we visited the famous museum of Pablo Picasso in Malaga. With "we" I mean Ricarda, Marcel and I. In 1881, Picasso was born in Málaga and that is why one of his museums is here (the other two are in Barcelona and in Paris). After we had wondered about the very long queue at the entry, we noticed that it was because of the celebration of the International Museum's Day, and the entry was for free.

Apart from Picasso’s pictures, there was another exhibition of the German artist Martin Kippenberger (1953-1997). Kippenberger was a big fan of Picasso and after Picasso’s dead in 1973, he dedicated him a series of pictures with the title "Jacqueline: The paintings Pablo couldn't paint anymore". Jacqueline was Picasso’s wife.

Even if I missed Picasso’s most famous pictures, the visit was very impressive for me, in spite of that I am not the biggest fan of museums :-) I also noticed that Picasso often painted naked women. So here you have an example of Picasso’s way of art: a picture with the title "Figures on a Beach".
Enjoy it!!!!

our work for indiestudio

The company we (Stefan and I) worked for in Málaga calls "indiestudio" and mainly focusses on industrial design and prototypes. As this company is a very young and dynamic one, they also focus a lot on recruiting young people. Thats why our task during the month was to create a Fanpage in facebook. On the left you can see a screenshot of the result. We created that in HTML language and also used picture-design tools. You can also watch the fanpage here: http://www.facebook.com/indiestudio.es?sk=app_249347133607

All in all we could get a good view into the spanish way of life and work. We had a great time and we were very lucky with that company.

el mercado

Hola,
my name is Ricarda (21) and I would like to point out that the market here in Málaga is one of the nicest places. From fish and meat to fruits and fresh vegetable you can choose from a huge variety every day. Especially when you like to cook fresh dishes that's the place to go. Not only offers the market best quality products to very affordable prices, you can also purchase spanish speciality such as chorizo and queso. If you go to Málaga don't miss out on this market.
